A domestic dispute resulted in a felony arrest for aggravated assault when it got physical and required intervention from a third party at the scene.
Shawn Kentrell Bryant, 36, was arrested July 18 and charged with two counts of aggravated assault under the family violence act.
A report of the arrest by Jones County Deputy Ayla Morris stated, upon arriving at the scene on Christy Court, Deputy Nolan Sullivan was speaking with a male subject outside of the residence. Morris proceeded inside to speak with the parties in the residence and noticed a large pool of blood in the dining room.
The complainant stated that Bryant had taken money from her, most recently taking $100 from her debit card while picking up groceries. She said she had the locks changed while Bryant was visiting friends and let him know to pick up his belongings where she had placed them outside.
The complainant said the alleged offender arrived back at the residence at 3 a.m. and started kicking the door in an attempt to get inside. She told the deputy she opened the door, and Bryant entered suddenly, wrapping his hand around her neck.
The complainant screamed for help. She said her brother called 911 and came downstairs. The complainant told Morris a fight took place during which Bryant tried to choke her brother. The complainant said Bryant was struck twice with a hammer during the fight. She said, when the offender realized he was bleeding, he left the residence.
Morris said Bryant was evaluated by EMS before being transported to the Jones County Law Enforcement Center, and warrants secured for his arrest.
