“…be ye thankful.“ (Col 3:15) Thank God: 1. because of who God is and what He has done for you--“Unto Thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto Thee do we give thanks: for that Thy name is near Thy wondrous works declare.” (Ps 75:1).
2. because of His love and mercy--“But God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, has quickened with Christ, (by grace ye are saved)” (Eph 2:4-5).
3. because of God’s presence in your life--“I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.” (Matt 28:20).
4. for the Bible, God’s word--“At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto Thee because of Thy righteous judgments.” (Ps 119:62).
5. for fellow believers“For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God” (I Thess 3:9).
6. for answered prayer“Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be Thou my helper. Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: Thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; To the end that my glory may sing praise to Thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto Thee for ever.” (Ps 30:10-12).
7. for God’s righteousness--“ I will praise the LORD according to His righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the LORD most high.” (Ps 7:17).
