Child molester found guilty, gets three life sentences

David Clinton Smith was found guilty on all counts by a Jones County jury Oct. 30. He received three consecutive life sentences plus 50 years to serve for charges of aggravated child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes and sexual exploitation of children.

JCHS holds mock presidential elections

The Jones County High School AP Government classes conducted mock elections for the president of the United States to enhance students’ understanding of government and encourage civic responsibility through a real-world application assignment.

Sincerity Lodge celebrating 125th anniversary

Sincerity Lodge 430 in Gray is commemorating its 125th anniversary next week with an open house, inviting the public to join the celebration.The open house is scheduled Nov. 7 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., and the facility will be open to the public during that time. The lodge is located at 402 E.
The Jones County Public Library is thankful to its community partner, Exchange Bank, for purchasing the movie license again for the next year. The funds were presented by Chris Gibson (left) and Barbara Merritt to library manager Julie King (center). This helps with the Book to Movie clubs, special needs programming, movie matinees and multiple programs throughout the year. CONTRIBUTED
