More than half of local voters turn out in runoff

Jones County voters came out en masse to let their preference be known in the Dec. 6 runoff election, with record-breaking numbers almost daily during the five days of early voting. Senate candidate Herschel Walker won in Jones County with a 62 percent margin. Incumbent Sen.
Kiwanis President Durrett Childs presented Scout Troop 485 with $3,500.00 which represents part of the proceeds from the Francis Golson Memorial Golf Tournament. The remaining proceeds will be given to the Eston Altman Scouting Center in Gray. Mr. Golson and Mr. Altman were both longtime members of Jones County Kiwanis club. Accepting the gift for Troop 485 are, left to right, scouts, Josh Dreher, Christian Spires, and Tommy Dorety, and Scoutmaster, Max Wood.
