Thomas L. Collum is the local veteran of the week. He served in the U.S. Army from June 1942 to October 1945. He was a tech sergeant and received jungle combat training in Panama; he was also assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 81st Infantry, Pacific Command Headquarters in the Philippines.

The lobby of the W. E. Knox Center was beautiful June 6, when the Gray Garden Club held its annual daylily display. Over 100 specimens were entered into the competition. Winners were Deon Hutcheson, first place; Greg Thompson, second place; and Lynn Edwards, third place; Best in Show: Deon Hutcheson, first place; and Marcia Whidby, second place. CONTRIBUTED
