Murder trial underway after pandemic delay

The trial of three men charged with murder in the Nov. 13, 2017, shooting death of 24-year-old Donald Marquise Hardwick of Gray began Monday. Jury selection started Sept. 26 and was anticipated to take two days because of the multiple attorneys involved in the case.

Woman pleads guilty for role in friend’s death

Poor decisions by two Jones County women appear to have cost one of them her freedom and the other her life. The body of 59-year-old Terri Potts was discovered in front of her home on Joycliff Road March 22.

Commissioners restructure public works department

The agenda for last week’s Jones County Board of Commissioners meeting contained only one agenda item, making for a brief business meeting. The monthly meeting, however, was preceded by a work session that was not quite as short. Board Chairman Chris Weidner called the Sept. 20 meeting to order.
