Dames Ferry Elementary School recently hosted Grandparent’s Day after not having the event for two years, helping to create fond memories for their students and grandparents.

Sanchez wins again as Greyhounds thrive on home course

Like their high school counterparts, Jones County’s middle school runners had the chance to run in front of a hometown crowd on Saturday morning in the Greyhound Invitational. And like the high school runners, they were among the top finishers.

Ninth-grade program key to helping Lady Hounds grow sport

Compared to teams from surrounding counties such as Henry and Houston counties in the sport of volleyball, Jones County is at a disadvantage due to the Lady Hounds not competing in the sport prior to 2020. But efforts such as a feeder system are helping to close that gap.

Volley Hounds return to action, dispatch Rutland

Call it rust needing to be knocked off. Call it going against an opponent that was not on the level of this week’s region matches. Regardless, the Volley Hounds fought through it last Thursday, toppling Rutland 2-0 with wins of 25-17 and 25-6.

Georgia defeats Golden Flashes in ugly win

Georgia’s matchup with Kent State didn’t go as planned; however, the No. 1 Bulldogs still defeated the Golden Flashes 39-22 Saturday at Sanford Stadium. Kent State (1-3) played well and kept Georgia (4-0, 1-0 SEC) off balance in all facets of the game.
