Camera Connect allows businesses, homes to share video

One of the new programs at the Jones County Sheriff’s Office, introduced with the new JCSO smartphone app, is called Camera Connect. The idea of the program is to take advantage of the numerous video surveillance cameras at businesses and homes throughout the county.

River North break-ins lead to pursuit

Sheriff Butch Reece announced crimes taking place in River North in a Facebook post last week, and the investigation into the offenses is ongoing. In the Sept. 2 post, Reece said Jones County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to several entering autos and a stolen vehicle.

BOC adopts budget, millage rate with no tax increase

The Board of Commissioners adopted its new budget and 2022 millage rate with no tax increases for property owners. The Aug. 30 called meeting was brought to order by Board Chairman Chris Weidner, and Jones County CFO LaVita Crutchfield presented the facts and figures to the Board Members.

Stone Gable Farm knows that a happy cow tastes better

Stone Gable Farm, a local beef farm, sells to residents around the area, and keeps their cows happy while doing so. Chris Weidner, the farm owner, has lived in Jones County since the late 1960s. He came to Jones County from Indiana, because his father bought land and was transferred.
