The following information is gleaned from incident reports, which are public record, from the Jones County Sheriff’s Department and Gray Police Department Aug. 4-7, 2022. Aug. 4 Dep. Harden was on patrol on Hwy. 49 when he observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.

BOE reports smooth start to beginning of school year

The atmosphere at the August Board of Education meeting was one of celebration for the return of school and positive steps forward. The Aug. 9 meeting was called to order by Board Chairman Ginger Bailey, and the first report on the agenda was the chairman’s report.

Friends of the Library donates $6,000 from book sales

Members of The Jones County Friends of the Library are a group of unsung heroes who work tirelessly to raise money to support the Jones County Public Library and literacy. The group’s most recent donation was in the amount of $6,000. It was presented at the Aug.

Rev. John N. Jr. and Helen McDuffie of Gray will observed their 62nd anniversary Aug. 13. John McDuffie is a native of Carnesville and is retired from the Bibb County School System in Macon. Helen McDuffie is a native of Indianapolis, Ind., and is retired from the Jones County School System.
