Senate study committee to consider education funding

ATLANTA – The Georgia Senate Study Committee to Review Education Funding Mechanisms will meet next Friday to consider what changes are needed to how schools are funded in the Peach State. Senate Majority Leader Mike Dugan, R-Carrollton, is chair of the committee.

New arrest leads to prison for probationer

A Macon man who was already on probation in Jones County for drug charges received a prison sentence following a new arrest. Tyler Thomas Galvin was in Jones County Superior Court Aug. 11 to enter a guilty plea to the charges against him.

Nine store clerks cited for alcohol sales violations

Just under half of the businesses permitted to sell alcohol in Gray and Jones County were cited for violations concerning sales to underaged customers. Jones County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Kenny Gleaton stated in an email that the compliance check occurred on Aug._5.

Main Street Gray showcases monthly Fridays on Mai

Main Street Gray will be hosting Fridays on Main the last Friday of each month. The first Fridays on Main event will be Aug. 26 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., where local businesses in downtown Gray will be open, and the community can gather for entertainment for the evening.
