Street named for former long-serving councilman

City of Gray councilmen paid tribute to one of their own last week with the dedication of a city street in his honor.What was formerly North Jefferson Street that runs beside First Baptist Church is now Benny Gray Jr. Drive. The unveiling of the sign and dedication of the road took place Oct. 22.

Nora Lee Byron: devoted, loved caregiver

Nora Lee Byron has spent considerably more time in other people’s homes than her own much of her life and helped raise many more children than she birthed.Byron, 85, is now a semi-retired caregiver, only helping a couple of families much less frequently than during her nearly 40 years ‘on the job.
At the October meeting of Gray Garden Club, Tia Litke of Bramble Bottom Farms in Haddock presented a program entitled Lavender, about healing properties of lavender and how to propagate. She brought fresh cuttings and dried flowers for members.
