Tax assessors get good news on sales ratio

The Jones County Board of Tax Assessors opted not to appeal this year’s sales ratio at the conclusion of its September board meeting.The Sept. 4 meeting was called to order by Chairman Leigh Stanford.

Two arrested following gunshot at ballpark

The report of shots fired at a Jones County ballpark last week resulted the arrests of two teenagers, with one being a juvenile.Alicia Cherry, 19, was arrested Sept. 4 and charged with reckless conduct for the unlawful discharge of a firearm in the vicinity of the general public.

Pavilion for food distribution dedicated at Hwy. 49 complex

A new addition to the Highway 49 Recreation Center was dedicated last week, but it has nothing to do with recreation. The addition is a 16x50-foot pavilion that will help shelter volunteers during the monthly food distributions held at the park.
