Local Students Make a Splash in Finding Nemo Jr.

Dive into the big blue world of Disney and Pixar’s Finding Nemo JR this weekend with Jones County Arts. This fun-filled stage musical brings the beloved story of Marlin and Nemo to life with familiar tunes like “Just Keep Swimming,” “Fish Are Friends, Not Food,” and “Go With the Flow.” Featuring approximately 40 talented students from Jones County, ages eight through eighth grade, the show is packed with laughter, adventure, and heart as Marlin journeys across the ocean to find his son, meeting unforgettable characters like Dory, Crush, and the Tank Gang along the way.

Performances will be held Nov. 21–23 at the W.E. Knox Civic Center. Friday and Saturday performances will be at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday at 3:00 p.m.. Reserved seating is $15 for all ages, while general admission is $10 for adults and $8 for students. Tickets are available online at jonescounty. booktix.com and can also be purchased at the door before each performance.

Many of the young actors and actresses shared their excitement about performing in this production.

Virginia Horkan, who plays Bloat, a member of the Tank Gang, explained what she enjoys most about being part of the show.

“I enjoy that we get to spend the show with our friends, sing, and really just perform because it is what we like to do,” Horkan said.

Bristol Bailey, who plays Peach, also expressed her enthusiasm for the experience.

“I enjoy the choreography, getting to joke around with my friends, and just having fun overall because theater is fun,” Bailey said.

Matthew Hough, who plays Gurgle, spoke about why the community should come out and support the show.

“I think people should come see the show because it is great, helps the community, and we put a lot of time and work into this,” Hough said.

Horkan added one final thought about the importance of supporting local arts.

“You should come and support the community because Jones County Arts is so great,” Horkan said.
