The following information is gleaned from incident reports, which are public record, from the Jones County Sheriff’s Department and Gray Police Department Nov. 7-10, 2025.
Nov. 7
Moped on the highway
Sgt. Walker conducted a traffic stop with a moped on Gray Hwy. that was getting passed by motorist. Driving the moped on the highway was extremely dangerous for the female driver due to her low speed. Walker made contact with the female driver and advised her she was not allowed to ride on Gray Hwy. at such a low speed when the speed limit is 65 MPH. The female driver of the moped advised Walker that she was unlicensed. At that time, Walker ran the female driver’s information and discovered that she was wanted out of Bibb County. The female was arrested, and a licensed driver came to pick up her moped. The female was transported to the Jones County LEC and issued a citation for no driver’s license and operating a low-speed vehicle on a highway.
Nov. 8
Suspended license, wrong tag
Sgt. Walker conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Hwy. 49 near Chambers Rd. Walker ran the tag information on the vehicle and noticed it came back showing the tag was for a different make and model vehicle. Walker made contact with the male driver and the male advised the sergeant that he just recently purchased the vehicle and just placed his tag from another vehicle on it. The information also came back to show that the male driver’s license was suspended. Walker placed the male driver under arrest and issued him a citation for improperly transferring vehicle tags, suspended license and use of a plate to conceal. The male driver was transported to the Jones County LEC.
Nov. 10
Scam
Dep. Ribiero was dispatched to a residence in reference to a scam. Upon arrival the deputy spoke to the female complainant. The complainant told the deputy that she received a phone call from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office advising her that they had one of her family members in custody.
The complainant stated that the caller advised her that she could pay the money to get the family member out which they stated was $375.00. The complainant got her credit card and the caller, which identified as a Captain for Henry County Sheriff’s Office advised the female, they do not accept cards, that she would have to send the cash via an app. At that time, the female complainant realized it was a scam call and hung up the phone.
Ribiero had dispatch contact the Henry County Sheriff and see if they had the person in custody.
Henry County advised that they had no one by the name given in their custody. The incident was documented and the deputy went back in service.
