Competition Cheer finishes ninth in state

JONES COUNTY CHEER

MACON - In any sport, the goal is usually to improve as the season goes on and have maximum performance at the most important part of the season.

Jones County’s competition cheer squad did that on the biggest and brightest of stages on Saturday morning in the GHSA Cheerleading State Championships at the Macon Coliseum, once again performing their routine that included John Fogerty’s “Centerfield.” At session’s end, Jones County finished ninth in the state.

“We’re extremely thankful for all of the community support,” JCHS competition cheer head coach Meddie Fuller said. “We’re already looking forward to next season.”

Before even taking the floor Saturday, JCHS was already in rare company, competing among the top 16 teams in the AAAAA classification.

Once their turn came to take the floor, the Cheer Hounds rose to the occasion, posting their top overall score of the season, sending out a group of seniors with both a region title and top-ten finish in the state.

In addition, eight from Jones County were all-region selections, four being seniors. Those recognized were seniors Landry Fletcher, Hannah Hampton, Genesis Price and Kiersten Foreman; junior Faith Logue and freshmen Lake Avery, Miracle Williams and Autumn Clark.
