What comes to your mind when you read the following paragraph?
Dear Editor,
Men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, fierce, unthankful, unholy, unforgiving, slanderers, blasphemers, brutal, lawless, trucebreakers, traitors, headstrong, haughty, and corrupt.
They will resist the truth, be lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, without self-control or natural affection, led away by various lusts, disobedient to parents, despisers of good, easily offended, falsely accuse, betray and hate others. They are continually learning, yet never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
They have a form of godliness but deny its power. False prophets will arise and deceive many. The love of many will grow cold. Evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. There will be persecutions and afflictions, wars and rumors of wars; nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.
Am I describing the condition of civilization today or am I paraphrasing Scripture? The answer is both! Tune in to media and take to the scriptures, and you will find this to be true. Many centuries ago, this was prophesied! These behaviors are occurring daily, and at an alarming pace. The above paraphrase is from Matthew 24 and 2 Timothy 3.
God’s Word describes the power of believing, bold, passionate, consistent and contending prayer. As bornagain followers of Christ, we have access to the supernatural power of prayer to heal, deliver, restore, renew and reverse. However, it is our choice as to whether we use that power.
Scripture declares that fervent prayer avails much (James 5:16). Our prayers MUST be fervent. We MUST obey the conditions found in 2 Chronicles 7:14 – humble ourselves, pray fervently, seek God’s face and turn from our wicked ways, so that God will forgive our sins and heal our land.
Have we forgotten that this nation began with the making of a covenant with God Almighty? We MUST take our place on the wall, armor up, and fight through prayer and godly actions to take America back to her founding principles. There is no other option!
Make no mistake, the enemy of every soul, the enemy of America is behind all of this. The devil’s mission is to kill, steal and destroy America, by using her own citizens to accomplish his work, while causing them to think their actions are good and right. This did not begin in our lifetime. The deceiver has been working at it from the beginning. He knows his goal; he is focused, and he plans to succeed.
God’s people must do no less! We must stay aware of the enemy’s strategy for the soul of America, and combat it properly through warfare prayer and godly action, because God uses people to achieve His goals too. We must seek greater revelation of Scripture, increase our faith, and seek His face. We must know our goal, stay focused, engage the battle and refuse defeat.
This is why the National Day of Prayer is so important. It serves as a call to assembly for Christians to unite in public for the purpose of praying for America’s future, to see this nation return to her founding principles. Eternity is not a game. The daily battle is real, continuous, and one that is being fought in the spiritual realm, with the results playing out before our eyes. The National Day of Prayer calls us to contend in prayer for the future of America. This must be a daily priority.
Our local National Day of Prayer Service is this Thursday, May 4, at 6:30 pm, in Carol’s Park. This appointed time of prayer is observed throughout America and around the world. Please join us!
Sincerely, Debra Hall
