Jesus came and stood in their midst, and said to them, Peace be with you.
(Jn 20:19) The next people the resurrected Jesus appeared to on that first Easter was to His disciples that evening in what many believe to be the upper room. This event is also recorded in Mark 16:14 and Luke 24:36. On this evening, Disciple Thomas was not there. See what happens when you miss Sunday night church!
At first the disciples were frightened, but they soon realized Jesus was Jesus, the real deal, not a ghost or hallucination.
He spoke with them, they watched Him eat food, they touched Him. He was flesh and bone. The Jesus just as they had know Him except He was in His glorified person.
The Jesus you read about in the Gospels, the One who walked the roads of Israel, the One who healed the sick, raised the dead, drove off demons, preached great sermons, this is the same Jesus who now sits at the right hand of the Father upon His throne of Heaven. He isn’t a ghost or vision. He is in His flesh and bone body, and will always be in His human body--although it is now glorified. And this same Jesus will return one day to claim this earth as His own. Are you ready?
