–George Sheffield “Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?”

(Luke 24:26) The third appearance of the resurrected Jesus was to the two disciples on the road to Emmaus.

These disciples were not of the chosen 12. Jesus had hundreds of disciples.

The Passover was done, and the people were now leaving Jerusalem to go back home. These two men were doing the same.

As they walked, saddened by Jesus’ death, Jesus appeared to them and walked along with them, although they didn’t recognize Him until later.

As they walked Jesus taught them from the Old Testament scriptures the things concerning Himself; that the Christ would suffer, be resurrected, and then usher in His kingdom and glory. He would defeat Satan, sin, and death--not Rome.

Jesus didn’t come to fix the world. He came to fix you and me by the washing of His blood, defeating the power of sin and Satan in our lives; destroying the grip of death. He suffered as the sacrificial Lamb of God to accomplish all this. But Jesus can only fix you only if you allow Him to. Ask Him today and be saved.
