Ravens improve to 2-0 with home shutout

The homefield treated the Georgia Ravens very well in Saturday’s home opener.

The Ravens, a semi-pro football team led and comprised of a majority of players from Jones County and nearby counties, posted their second shutout win in a row to improve to 2-0 on the season, shutting out the Alabama Wardawgs 35-0.

Torry Johnson Jr. did a bit of everything to lead the Ravens, passing for 198 yards, throwing two touchdowns and running for one score while catching another. Drake Bolus had 146 receiving yards, hauling in a pair of touchdown passes. Both Kapien Everett and Dieze Strong made an impact on the ground and the air, respectively rushing for 61 and 55 yards while having 10 and 20

receiving yards.

Adam Crump rushed for 22 yards, and Travis Fuller added 20 yards receiving.

On defense, a combined four interceptions came from Tyler Meeks, Kevi Hooks and Chavis Rouse, Hooks having two interceptions and a touchdown. Pressure was also applyed by way of DJ Brazil’s three sacks, two each from Desmond Solomon and Bryant Harrison with Ron Lee having one.

The Ravens next game is Saturday at the Clayton County Spartans.
