Middle school boys first, girls second in Peake Invitational

Middle school runners from Jones County showed themselves to be among the best in middle Georgia last week at the Peake Invitational in Macon. With multiple season bests being set, the boys won first with the girls finishing second overall.

Six boys runners were among those setting personal records, led by eighth place Jace Grogan and Owen Womack in ninth. They were followed by Rowdy Andrews in 12th, Gage Pittman in 15th, Dalton Russell in 16th and Daniel Sanchez finishing 19th.

Mary Barnwell’s third-place run led the girls second-place finish with Becca Durrett in eighth. That overall run was supported by Catelen Myers in 14th with finishes of 17th and 20th by Tanner Watts and Phoebe Palmer being among the season bests for the girls runners, as well.

The next middle school meet is scheduled to be the Greyhound Invitational on Sept. 23.
