Jarocho’s Mexican Bar and Grill is now open in Gray, serving authentic Mexican food for all of Jones Countians to try.
The restaurant is located at 216 Old Clinton Road in Gray where El Sombrero used to be located. Owner Emma Baiza said she’s happy the restaurant is now open.
“I’m very happy to be working in Gray, and I love everyone who has come into the new restaurant,” she said. “Everyone has been so nice about Jarocho’s, and what we have to offer here.”
She said she wanted to open up Jarocho’s Mexican Bar and Grill, because when she came to Gray she loved the restaurant business and the opportunities she could have to grow in the industry. She said it was her family’s dream to always open a restaurant, and Gray was the perfect place to offer some of her dishes.
“My restaurant is important for Jones County, because I want everyone to be happy with the food they eat. It brings me joy to know people are eating good food. I want everyone in town to know where they can get great service and food,” Baiza said.
The restaurant owner said she moved to the area last year when the restaurant was still El Sombrero, and they had to make a lot of changes to the restaurant. She said she poured all of her love into the restaurant after she and her husband bought the place. She said they worked very hard to become the owners of Jarocho’s.
“I have lived in Macon since 2004, and I have gotten to know the area very well. When it’s time, I hope we can move to Gray,” she said. “I love Gray, and all it has to offer us. The people make owning the restaurant here worth it. They are so kind.”
Baiza said when she started working in a restaurant in 2004, she wanted to make her dishes. She said her mother taught her a lot about cooking traditional Mexican food. She said her friends always commented how great her cooking was, so she really wanted to make her dishes in her own restaurant. She said now her dream has come true.
Baiza said she hopes Jarocho’s Mexican Bar and Grill is in business in Gray for a long time. She said she wants to provide excellent customer service to people and equally excellent food. She said she hopes people will try out the new restaurant, because she can’t wait to share her food with Jones County.
“We have real Mexican food here at Jarocho’s. The Mexican food on our menu are dishes I used to fix in Mexico,” she said. “People should eat at my restaurant, because they need to try my dishes. We work hard to provide great food to our customers. We really want people to give us a chance.”
