Competition cheer bound for state again

CHEER HOUNDS

For the second year in a row, Jones County gets its shot to go for a state championship among the Georgia’s best.

Jones County’s competition cheerleaders went to McIntosh on Saturday and returned with a second-place trophy in the region. More importantly, the showing qualifies Jones County to be one of the teams competing in this year’s GHSA Cheerleading State Championships at the Macon Coliseum.

This year’s AAAAA round will take place on Friday, Nov. 10. Jones County is part of Friday’s first session, scheduled for a 10 a.m. start. That session will feature a total of 16 teams from both the AAAAA and A classifications with an intermission break after the 16th team competes. The Cheer Hounds will take the floor in the No. 14 overall spot, putting them under the bright lights of competition just before the halfway break.

Tickets are $15 per session and available on GoFan.
