Physical altercation at LEC

Deputy Elrod responded to the Jones County LEC in regards to a Detention Officer being assaulted by a male subject while attempting to book him into the jail. Officer Farley with GPD also responded. When Elrod arrived, Farley was already on scene and had the male subject at Taser point near the booking desk. The male subject was actively resisting Officer Farley by not following verbal commands and the male had also started squaring up to fight Farley. Elrod drew his taser at that time and pointed it at the male subject and ordered him to comply returning to the holding cell the Detention Officer had been attempting to put him in.

The male subject continued to actively resist and bowed up in a fighting stance again to Deputy Elrod. Officer Farley returned his Taser to his holster so he could go hands on if need be and advised the male he would be tased if he did not comply.

The subject still did not comply and was still maintaining the fighting stance. Based on the male’s level of aggression, Elrod made the decision to deploy his Taser. Elrod deployed one cartridge at the subject and he fell to the ground and eventually subdued and was placed in the holding cell by Officer Farley.
