Prospect showcase to provide exposure, welcome coaches

COLLEGE RECRUITING

Jones County will be the host on Feb. 17 as local football players with hopes of playing at the next level will have the opportunity to be seen at a prospect showcase hosted at the Morris Bank Recreation Complex from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Prospect Showcase is being put on by Earl Chambers Camps and currently has coaches from nine schools scheduled to attend, four from the state of Georgia. Those schools are Point University, Valdosta State, Fort Valley State and Berry College.

Other schools slated to be on hand are Miles College, Huntington College, Kentucky State, Allen University and Barton College.

The camp and showcase will present a two-fold opportunity. While on one hand players will have the chance to showcase their skills to coaches, they will also be able to be able to receive feedback from coaches on the collegiate level.

The event is spearheaded by Chambers, a former Georgia defensive back and quality control defensive assistant, who is now the defensive coordinator at Kentucky State. He was also previously the head coach at LaGrange College in a coaching career that has also included stops at James Madison and Valdosta State.

Campers are asked to bring cleats and any other equipment they would need to compete in a game or practice. Helmets and pads will not be needed.

The cost is $85 per player, and registration as well as additional info is at EarlChambersCamps.com
