Lady Hounds overwhelm Central in shutout victory

SOCCER

Repeated pressure paid off over time for the Lady Greyhounds last Thursday. As a result, they evened their record at 1-1 with a 6-0 win against Central Macon.

Jones County was able to put together multiple quality scoring chances out of its offensive sets in the first half. Around the half-mark of that first half, Daisy Blanton got an open look off an offensive feed, and the shot found its way to the back of the Chargers net. She’d add another before halftime as she had four goals against the Chargers with two by Isabella Bodnarchuk.

The Lady Greyhounds continued to limit offensive chances from Central in the second half, adding three more goals, as well as things continued. Reagan Sorrell played a big part in setting those scoring chances up with four assists with single assists coming from Bodnarchuk and Marissa Moore.

Jones County, which played on Tuesday at Jackson and visits Upson Lee on Thursday, returns home Feb. 20 against GMC Prep and plays at Mary Persons on Feb. 23.
