Greyhounds split pair of matches

SOCCER HOUNDS

The Greyhounds began this week with three matches to go leading into the March 1 region opener against Locust Grove. Jones County plays Friday at Mary Persons and Feb. 27 at Peach County, coming off a split of two contests last week.

Getting a first-half goal from Gerson Trejo against Jackson, the Greyhounds played to a 1-1 tie. JCHS lost 7-0 Friday to Upson Lee.

With a record of 1-2-1 at the start of this week, Trejo and Brendan Waters are the leading scorers so far with three goals, two from Yassine Errahimi.

Trejo, Errahimi and Brian Sorrell remain the most active players on the offensive end, averaging one shot on goal per game.

Lady Hounds prevail for two close victories

The Lady Greyhounds learned that they could put goals in the net within the first two games of the season. Last week? They proved that they can win close matches.

In a pair of wins against Jackson and Upson Lee, Jones County prevailed in two one-goal victories.

Last Tuesday against Jackson, three scores were enough to hold off the Red Devils in a 3-2 decision. Another clutch game was delivered on Friday at Upson Lee as a second-half goal delivered a 1-0 win to run the Lady Hounds win streak to three in a row with a 3-1 record.
