Girls second at Lady Knight Invitational
The odds of Jones County’s golfers advancing to the state tournament will hinge on next Tuesday’s area tournament. For that reason, playing well in tournaments in the late-season run of the schedule carries an added weight of importance.
Both teams zeroed in on that chance last week in matches at Ola and Ace Charter with the latter held at Barrington Hall Country Club in Macon.
Jones County’s golfers began last week with a road match at Ola. The Lady Hounds took a 10-stroke win with an overall score of 158.
Kimber Kent’s 48 was the low round overall. The Greyhounds fell short to the Mustangs with an overall score of 194 compared to Ola’s 172. Barrett Beasley set the low mark with a round of 46 with Cameron Page being close behind at 48.
The Lady Hounds also took second at Monday’s Lady Knight Invitational, finishing second by a stroke. Kent’s round of 92 was one shy of being the event’s low medalist, and Karlie Hoffman as well as Kendyl Thomas had rounds of 103.
