Real Life

“Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on Me through their word” (Jn 17:20) If you are a Christian, then know that Jesus prayed for you some 2,000 years ago. That prayer is right here in this verse. John 17 is the High Priestly prayer of Jesus, the true Lord’s Prayer. In just a moment He would be arrested; Judas and his army was on the way. But Jesus took time to pray for you.

He had been praying for His 11 disciples, but then prays for all believers who would be saved through their preaching of the word. Your salvation is the product of one of the Apostles’ preaching! Jesus prayed that you would keep God’s word (v6); that you would know Jesus came from the Father (v8); that you would be kept in the Father’s name and remain in His name (v11-12); that you will know the fullness of Jesus’ joy (v13); that you will be kept from Satan’s evil influences (v15); that you will go into the world and share to others the very Gospel that saved you (v18); that you will be sanctified and grow in the faith (v19); and that you will be in unity with other believers and with God (v21).

And Jesus is still praying for you (Rom 8:34), interceding for you daily. Take comfort in this truth. Jesus prayed and is still praying for you.
