The photo caption of the Cannon Ball House printed in the Aug. 29 edition stated it was originally built in Jones County, that is not correct. It wasn’t built until 1853, on the west side of the river, twenty years after Bibb County was founded. Only the Bibb County land on the east side, such as Ft. Hawkins, would have been part of Jones. The News apologizes for the error....
