Former Greyhounds quarterback John Alan Richter provided a spark for Toledo in its 30-15 loss to Buffalo on Saturday, coming off the bench to throw for 227 yards and a pair of touchdowns after the Rockets got off to a slow offensive start. Prior to Richter coming into the game, Toledo’s offense had punted six times, fumbled once and turned it over on downs twice.
Despite only playing in three offensive series on Saturday, Richter was responsible for 60 percent of Toledo’s offensive output.
Toledo is 4-2 overall and 1-1 in MAC play and plays Saturday at Northern Illinois.
Ched “Boogie” Smith helped LaGrange College snap a 14-game road losing streak with Saturday’s 31-9 victory against North Carolina Wesleyan. The win improved the Panthers to 2-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play as Smith had a teamhigh one tackle for a loss and tied for the team lead with six total tackles. He also had the lone sack for the Panthers, who play next Saturday at Brevard College.
