–George Sheffield “And as they led Him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.”
(Luke 23:26) Simon carried the cross of Jesus. We need to carry the cross of Christ to all those around us in our community. On Saturday, April 12, at 10 a.m., we will hold the second annual Walk With The Cross event. This is a silent walk following the cross as it is carried ahead of us. The cross itself will do all the speaking needed as we walk. We want a revival, an awakening, in Jones County where people are saved and set free from sin, Born Again through faith in Jesus, their names written in Heaven while living here for Christ.
We will walk from the gazebo at Carol’s Park down the sidewalk to Ingles. As we follow the cross, we will silently pray for the souls of Jones County. On the sidewalk in front of Ingles, we’ll stop and Pastor Randy Darnell will briefly speak and lead us in prayer. Then we’ll silently proceed back to Carol’s Park to conclude the event.
All are invited to participate, and I especially invite our elected city and county representatives to come and walk with us. Please make plans to attend this event next Saturday morning. Put on your walking shoes and be a Simon. Help carry the cross of Jesus to others here in Jones County.
