The following information is gleaned from incident reports, which are public record, from the Jones County Sheriff’s Department and Gray Police Department May 22-26, 2025.
May 22
Stress relief
Deputy Sullivan was dispatched to a local residence in regard to a report of gunshots being heard in the area. Upon arrival, Sullivan made contact with a complainant that stated there were people yelling and arguing, saw a vehicle speed away then heard gunshots. Sullivan spoke to another complainant that also advised of hearing arguing then a gun shot. The deputy then went to the location of the house that was given to him. Sullivan made contact with a female subject that advised she and her husband had been arguing earlier and she got angry and frustrated and while her husband and kids were out in the backyard, she walked around the house towards the front and shot a round off in the air to “relieve some stress.” Sullivan then had the female give him the gun and secured it in his patrol vehicle. The deputy then advised the female she was being placed under arrest for reckless conduct.
Sullivan explained to the female that it is reckless conduct due to her shooting in the air and not knowing where the bullet could land. The deputy went on to explain to the female that the bullet could have hit a neighbor, a passing car, or even her husband or children. At that time, the female requested a supervisor on scene. Lt. Carr arrived and spoke with her. Sullivan then placed the female in handcuffs and transported her to the Jones County LEC where she was turned over to jail staff. Sullivan then sought and secured a warrant for the female for reckless conduct.
“Tired of running”
Deputy Sullivan was dispatched to a residence in reference to a wanted person that requested a ride to jail. Upon arrival, Sullivan spoke to the male subject, and he advised the deputy that he “was tired of running.” Dispatch advised the deputy that they had the subject’s warrant in hand.
The male subject was placed in handcuffs and transported to the Jones County LEC. The male subject was turned over to jail staff.
May 23
No tag, no insurance, no license
Deputy Elrod was on patrol monitoring northbound traffic on Gray Highway, when he observed a motorcycle pass by his location with no tag. Elrod conducted a traffic stop on the motorcycle and made contact with the male rider. The male advised the deputy that he had no driver’s license, and that it had been suspended.
The male subject also told the deputy that he did not have a motorcycle endorsement and no insurance. At that time, the male rider was placed in handcuffs and transported to the Jones County LEC for booking.
Theft
Deputy Elrod was dispatched to a residence in reference to a theft.
Once Elrod arrived on scene, he met with the male complainant that stated he had been in Atlanta for open heart surgery and when he came back home, he discovered that someone had taken his Echo Backpack blower and a Troy-Bilt tiller. The complainant did not have any of the serial numbers for the equipment. Elrod advised the male that if they discovered anything on the blower or tiller, they would contact him.
May 26
Window tint violation
Deputy Ribeiro was on patrol when he observed a vehicle with dark window tint. The deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the male driver. Ribeiro explained the reason for the stop with the driver. During conversation, the male driver advised Ribeiro that his license was suspended. The driver was immediately arrested and transported to the Jones County jail by Deputy Patterson. The male driver received a citation for window tint and for driving on a suspended license.
