April 5, 1935 - Oct. 18, 2025
Nadine “Mammie” Burgess passed away peacefully on Oct. 18, 2025, at the age of 90.
Born on April 5, 1935, to Edgar and Susie Beeland, Nadine lived a life defined by joy, faith, and unwavering dedication to her family.
Nadine was a true matriarch and the definition of a strong woman.
She was always there to bail loved ones out of trouble, to take care of sick grandkids, and lived to fill her dining room table with food, family, and laughter.
She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles for over 20 years, during which she formed lifelong friendships. Like the hero of every great story, she overcame numerous challenges and modeled what unshakable faith and joyful living looked like.
Life was her oyster. She loved traveling, the beach, dancing, and having a good time. A slot machine, or BINGO card, hated to see her coming. Nadine taught her family the true meaning of loyalty, forgiveness, and love above all else.
Nadine was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Susie Beeland; her husband, Robert (Bob) K. Burgess; her brother, Buddy Beeland; and three grandsons, Miles Martin, James Joseph (JJ) Williams, and Justin Williams, whose memories she held close to her heart.
She is survived by her treasured sister, Janice Smith, and her beloved best friend, Mike Bryant.
Nadine’s legacy lives through her four devoted children, Jimmy Williams (Kathy), Suree Bryson, Greg Williams (Cindy), and Susanna Fountain (Jeff).
She was a proud and doting grandmother to nine grandchildren: Jeremy Williams (Jennifer), Jessica Williams, Sureesa Williams (Kevin), April Haskins, Nadia (Nan) Granger (Matt), Megan Jones (Josh), Brooke Fountain, Paige Bryson (D.J.), and Kaitlan Bryson (Jamerik).
Nadine was blessed with fourteen great-grandchildren: Kristopher, Kendal, Josiah, McKenzie, Madelynn, Milo, Mercedes, Faith, Kaileah, Tristan, Driton, Eli, Kali, and Bobbie Mae. She also had one precious great-greatgranddaughter, Ta’leah.
The family received friends at Juliette Methodist Church on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service and burial. Family and friends were warmly invited to attend and celebrate Nadine’s life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be made to St.
Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Her spirit will forever be a guiding light for her loving family.
Monroe County Memorial Chapel, 86 West Main Street, Forsyth, Georgia, has charge of the arrangements.
