Sara Agnes Morgan Darity

Sara Agnes Morgan Darity, age 74, of Hillsboro, passed away Friday, Oct.

10, 2025, at her residence.

Sara Darity was born on June 27, 1951, in Thomaston, Georgia, to the late Eli Ray Morgan and Agnes Maynard Morgan. After graduation from Monticello High School, Sara attended Crandall Business College in Macon and graduated in 1969.

Sara married the late James Martin Darity, Sr. on April 5, 1971. She became a mother to his two children, Denise Darity Campbell and James Martin Darity, Jr. They had two more sons, John Ray Darity and Joshua Thomas Darity. She lost her beloved husband in 2011; sons, James, Jr. in 2013, John Ray in 2015, Joshua Thomas in 2016, and beloved pet, Tucker in 2022. Because of her love for Christ, Sara never let her grief and sadness consume the remainder of her life.

Sara worked at the Jasper County Board of Education for six years, Bibb County Board of Education for sixteen years, Jasper County Board of Commissioners for two years and retired on June 20, 2016, from Poly Tech Industries after seventeen years of service.

Sara was a member of the Hillsboro Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, and Training Union; played the piano for the church, sang and lead the church choir, and served as church treasurer for ten years.

She was a member of the Jasper County Shrine Club Auxiliary, and Busy Bees of Monticello. She was actively attending Gray Baptist Church and was a member of Young at Hearts at the church.

Her hobbies included sewing, crochet and cooking.

She is survived by her step-daughter, Denise Darity Campbell (Ahmad) of Monticello; grandchildren, Matt (Melissa) Shelton, Michael Shelton (Erica Brown), Melissa (David) Cook, Jay Darity (Amber Wilson), Clay (Erin) Darity, Christie Clay, Torrey Clay, Amber Darity, Daniel (Destiny) Darity, Gabe Darity, Kati Darity and Alex Darity (Gabby Campbell); nine great-grandchildren; brothers and sister, Bobby (Ellen) Morgan of Gray, Kay (Carl) Egly of New Haven, Indiana, and Doug (Karen) Morgan of Monticello; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025, at Fullerton Memorial Gardens. Rev. Randy Darnell officiated.

Serving as pallbearers were Michael Shelton, Matt Shelton, Clay Darity, Jay Darity, Daniel Darity and Torre Clay.
