“Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.” (Ps 145:3)
In Psalm 145:1-6, we discover we have a great God. None can compare to Him. None can equal Him. None are above Him. In fact all other gods, called idols in the Bible, are “things of naught”. They are nothings. Only God is great.
God is great for who He is: God the only Creator; God the only Savior; God the only King. God is great because He is merciful. Yes, God is great just because of who He is.
God is great because He does great things: wondrous works (v5); mighty acts (v4); terrible and awesome acts (v6). Acts that seem impossible to us. His greatness is also unsearchable. We can’t figure Him out. We can’t number all His mighty acts. Our finite minds just can’t comprehend how great God is.
Because God is so great, He deserves to be worshipped greatly. His praise is to be in our hearts and on our lips, forever and ever. We are to tell others about His greatness so they too can know about this great God we serve.
And God is great because He sent His Son Jesus to pay our sin debt on the cross. Can’t get no greater than that. God is great. Worship Him greatly.
