John Alan Richter won his first career start on Saturday, leading Toledo past Northern Illinois 13-6. He was 15-of-28 for 152 yards and a touchdown and no interceptions for the Rockets, who improved to 5-2 overall. His touchdown from 52 yards away gave Toledo a 7-3 lead that was good enough to also improve to 2-1 in the Mid American Conference ahead of Saturday’s home game at 3:30 p.m. against Bowling Green on ESPN+.
Zion Ragins got the start again for Oklahoma in a 32-9 loss to South Carolina. The Sooners play Saturday at noon against Mississippi on ESPN.
Ched “Boogie” Smith had one of LaGrange College’s three sacks and also forced a fumble in Saturday’s road win at Brevard College. The Panthers, 3-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play, host Greensboro College on Saturday.
