Bowl season arrives for Robertson, Ross
For one JCHS football alumnus, it’ll be time to say aloha and don a Hawaiian shirt. Bowl invitations were extended across college football on Sunday afternoon, and among teams receiving them was Middle Tennessee State, whose standouts include safety Teldrick Ross.
The Blue Raiders were officially extended an invitation on Sunday to the EastPost Hawai’i Bowl on Dec. 24 against San Diego State. The game will kickoff at 8 p.m. EST Dec. 24 on ESPN.
Ross is second on the team for MTSU with 18 pass breakups and second in tackles with 74.
Duke, where Jontavis Robertson has been a special-teams regular for the Blue Devils, will face UCF in the Military Bowl on Dec. 28 on ESPN. Robertson’s 22 yards per kickoff return average is second for the Blue Devils with his longest return this year of 33 also being second on the team.
Another team with a former Greyhound on the roster will also be enjoying a warmer climate during bowl season. Toledo, where John Alan Richter is on the roster as a freshman, will play Liberty in the Boca Raton Bowl on Dec. 20. The Rockets beat Ohio Saturday 17-7 to win their first MAC title since 2017.
