Former Greyhounds in college action
The East Carolina Pirates found multiple ways to get the ball into the hands of Javious Bond in a 31-13 loss to Marshall. Against the Thundering Herd, Bond’s six carries were the second-most of any Pirates running back, and he also had two kick returns for 47 yards, the longest being 24 yards. ECU plays Saturday at Appalachian State.
Further west in the Tar Heel State, Jontavis Robertson had two catches for 16 yards as Duke improved to 2-0 with a 42-7 romp over Lafayette. The Blue Devils will aim for a 3-0 start on Saturday at home against Northwestern.
Teldrick Ross and Middle Tennessee State fell just short at Missouri, 23-19 as Ross had three tackles against the Tigers. After starting the season with a pair of road games against SEC opponents, MTSU plays Murray State on Saturday for its home opener.
