Crowded span of games ahead for Lady Hounds

GREYHOUND SOFTBALL

With three games under their belt so far, the Lady Greyhounds have keyed in on chances to show what kind of team they can be with a 2-1 record so far.

In multiple settings and stakes, that sample size gets bigger this week.

JCHS, which suffered its first loss of the season last week at Bleckley County, is in the midst of five games over a span of five days this week. And it’s a gauntlet that began with region rivals. After Tuesday’s region opener at postseason regular Locust Grove, the Lady Hounds play Thursday at Ola. Given that the Mustangs tend to win or contend for the region title, those two games will serve to show early on how the Lady Hounds stack up against the top of the region ahead of their next home game next Tuesday against Union Grove.

Those games will be sandwiched this weekend in Cordele, where Jones County will play three contests, a trio of games that also lay out the chance for Jones County to shuffle around lineups and batting orders to see what works best.

The Lady Hounds play Camden County on Friday as well as Crawford County and Jeff Davis on Saturday. Jeff Davis could particularly end up being a good litmus test for JCHS coming off a season in which they fell one round short of the state’s Elite 8 in Columbus.
