Late May once again means the start of all-star baseball and softball tournaments, and two teams will be able to play close to home.
District tournaments for both coach pitch softball and rookie baseball will be hosted in Jones County. Games began Wednesday of this week with bracket play scheduled to begin Saturday and championship games on Monday.
“There are a lot of talented young and talented boys and girls out there that have been developed by our outstanding volunteer coaches,” said Jones County Parks & Recreation Director Bert Rosenberger. “I have no doubt that these teams playing at both home and on the road will represent our county well in all-star play. It’s a really exciting time of the year.”
Both of Jones County’s coach-pitch baseball teams, the Purple and Gold teams, began play on Wednesday in their district tournament at Western Little League in Macon in addition to the 9U All Stars at Western Little League as well.
