Doster leads Mercer to runner-up finish

Former JCHS cross country standout Laney Doster helped lead Mercer to a second-place overall finish at Friday’s Julius Johnson / MGA Invitational, running a time of 19:40 to place second among the Bears runners. Mercer competes again Oct. 1 in at the Live In Lou Cross Country Classic in Louisville, Kentucky.

Teldrick Ross has established himself as one of MTSU’s defensive leaders, having the most tackles of any Blue Raider defender through three games with a total of 26. A safety, Ross is coming off a season where he played more snaps than any other cornerback at MTSU. The Blue Raiders are 2-1, winners of two in a row over Colorado State and Tennessee State. Local fans have a chance to see Ross play on television this weekend as MTSU plays at Miami in a game at 2:30 p.m. on the ACC Network.

Jontavis Robertson has found his way to the field in multiple ways for undefeated Duke so far, seeing time as a rusher, receiver, punt returner and kick returner. In three games, Robertson has three catches for 20 yards and has been on the field for three punt returns in addition to three kickoff returns.

The Blue Devils, 3-0 after wins against Temple, Northwestern and North Carolina A&T, play Saturday at unbeaten Kansas at Noon EST on FS1.
