Hamm accepted into US Olympic Trials

    To represent the United States in this summer’s Olympics, track & field athletes must first be accepted in the United States Olympic Team Trials.

    Jones County’s Shareez Hamm is in that elite company, having been accepted into the trials in the 400-meter hurdles. That places him in an intense competition in Eugene, Oregon, that will go through June 30.

    The top performers at the end of that competition will be selected to represent the United States in the Olympics.

    The first round of the 400-meter hurdles is scheduled for June 27 with the semifinals a day later and the final on June 30. The Olympic Trials will be broadcast on the NBC family of networks, which include NBC, USA Network and streaming on Peacock.
