GOLF HOUNDS
The Lady Hounds golf team qualified for sectionals last week with Ben Ridley also earning a spot in the state tournament by virtue of their showing at the area tournament at Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro.
The Lady Hounds had a score of 194 as a team, finishing fourth. Top scores for Jones County were Keegan Goins with a round of 94 and scores of 100 from Kimber Kent and Karlie Hoffman. Others taking part of the Lady Hounds were Sara Utley and Ava Cribb.
The Greyhounds, led by Ben Ridley’s 82, had a team score of 351, coming up just short of advancing. Other top performers for the Greyhounds were Austin Hester with an 88, Jacob Bridgeman’s 89 and Barrett Beasley’s 92. Others participating were Cameron Page and Holden Nipper.
The Lady Hounds take to the course again May 8-9 in the sectionals at Ware County with Ridley being bound for the state tournament, May 22-23 in Cartersville. – Brad Harrison
