Middle School runners jump to the front at Clash of the Classes

Jones County’s middle school cross country runners took to the course on Saturday at the Clash of the Classes in Bleckley County. Going up against runners from across central Georgia, two top-five finishes in the girls events were brought home with the sixth-grade boys race seeing two Jones County runners finish in the top ten.

In that sixth-grade boys race, Owen Wommack was third in front of Gage Pittman in seventh. Caleb Waters was 20th, Maverick Rhodes came in 31st in front on Abel Durden in 41st, Hunter Ivy in 43rd and Jordan Davis finishing 45th.

Top finishers in the 7th-grade race were Lane Schomber in 20th, Carter Owens in 36th and Ammi Thomas in 48th, In the 8th-grade boys race, Chase Ham was 23rd, Camden McWirter came in 35th, Rylan Fuller was 38th and Tripp Arnold was 50th.

The Lady Hounds shined in the girls race among eighth-grade runners with Isabella Sanchez in second and Sable Teague in sixth ahead of Raegan Prophet in 19th.

In the seventh-grade girls race, Becca Durrett was the top Jones County finisher in seventh place in front of Banks Dyer in 19th, Audree Brown in 24th, Catelen Myers in 25th, Brooklyn Rogers in 28th and Cadey Snow in 44th.

Mary Barnwell was fourth in the sixth-grade girls race with other top finishers being Peyton Tate in 26th place, Rylee Bell 32nd, Aranna Smith in 46th and Haleigh Harris in 47th.
