Moore, Robertson to coach track and boys soccer

With the calendar turning toward summer, two more head coaches are in place for two Jones County sports. They join Kim Hanner, who was previously tapped as head coach of the Lady Greyhounds volleyball program.

One new addition is familiar to JCHS, with Geoff Moore taking on the role of track and field head coach. Moore is hardly an unfamiliar face around the track program, having previously worked with the JCHS distance runners during track season. It won’t be Moore’s only head-coach role, as he has guided the crosscountry programs to among the region and state’ elite. Last fall, both teams swept the region title and finished in the top 10 of the state. At the same time, Jones County’s cross-country programs have also had multiple runners sign college scholarships in recent seasons.

Moore replaces Clay Hodges, who took on the track coach position this past spring after the departure of Jay Floyd. Hodges, also a defensive secondary coach for Jones County’s football program last year, left JCHS for another coaching position.

The boys soccer program at Jones County has a new head coach as well. Nathan Robertson, who was a collegiate football placekicker at Kennesaw State, is on board to replace Will Cowart, who left JCHS for another coaching opportunity.

Robertson and Cowart have one common thread in that both placekicked or punted in college, Cowart at Georgia as a punter with Robertson a placekicker at KSU.

Robertson takes over a team that showed promise and resilience during the course of last season, showing plenty of grit all the way to final match of the season.
