Nine Jones County High School student-athletes gathered at the JCHS gymnasium to celebrate the next step of their collective journeys last Tuesday morning.
And though the roads will be to places near and far, the significance for each one across four sports is the same – that they’ll be going on compete in their respective sports collegiately.
During a signing day ceremony amid coaches, friends, family and others, those from four sports celebrated signing on to go to the next level.
Kamiyah Adams was among those putting the pen to paper to celebrate the continuation of her athletic career. The girls basketball standout inked with Georgia Southwestern State in Americus. The JCHS competition cheerleading program also had reason to celebrate. Brianna Mead will be staying close to home as she signed on to cheer at Mercer University.
A trio of Diamond Hounds are also bound for the next level. Pitcher Landen Wilson and outfielder Jonathan Scarbary will play for Thomas University with Davis Upshaw headed to the north Georgia mountains and Young Harris University.
In football, four Greyhounds that have played a critical role in laying the groundwork of the program in head coach Justin Montgomery’s first season last year also made the next step in their careers official. Bruno Hicks and Junior Holloway signed with LaGrange College, JR Clark is bound for Kentucky State, and Andre Hall is headed to Tabor College.
