Saturday night wasn’t Jordy Nipper’s first time racing on Cochran Motor Speedway’s dirt surface.
But by the time his night was over, he came home with arguably the biggest win of his career.
Nipper charged to the win on the track’s half-mile dirt surface, in turn collecting a $10,000 payday in the Southern Dirt All Star Racing Series Georgia Rumble. Nipper bested the field over the course of a 40-lap feature. That included holding off Will Herrington by a margin of 2.7 seconds to get the win as well as the fast qualifier, Zack Mitchell.
“It feels really good.
A lot of effort and work went into it,” Nipper said during his post-race video interview posted by the series. “A lot of late nights.” Nipper pointed to success along the track’s inside line as being a key reason for being able to move through the field once the feature event began.
“When we fired off, I was on the bottom, and when we went green through one and two, I passed two or three cars and by the first caution, I was running sixth,” Nipper said as his family looked on from a few feet away. “Once I found the bottom, it was my bread and butter.”
