Washed Up Wins Grayberry League Title
A summer of softball at the parks and recreation fields ended recently with the conclusion of the Grayberry Women’s Softball League. The championship game saw Washed Up prevail over the Bad Pitches 15-3 after an 11-3 semifinal victory to advance. This past summer showed increased enthusiasm for activity for locals to stay active as enough players to field nine teams were part of the season, an increase over last year’s team that took part.
Saturday’s Free Clinic Among Upcoming Pickleball Opportunities
There are numerous pickleball opportunities for players that are either new to the sport, experienced, or eager to give it a try. A free beginning class will be offered on Aug. 12 at 9:30 a.m., and loaner equipment will be available.
Fall leagues will begin the week of Sept. 11 with matches to begin each day at 6 p.m. Ladies night will be Monday with men’s league on Tuesday and co-ed on Wednesday. A glow ball tournament will be hosted from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Nov. 10-11 with registration to begin on Oct. 1. A community fundraiser is planned for Dec. 1-2.
