The first full week of college football began last weekend, and two former JCHS standouts got on the board with touchdowns with another seeing time on the field as a true freshman.
Former Greyhounds quarterback John Alan Richter took advantage of his most extensive time under center with Toledo, rotating in later during a 49-10 win over Duquesne. He was 6-of-6 for 77 yards, completing an 18-yard pass to cap an 80-yard drive. The Rockets host UMass this week before playing the next week at Mississippi State.
Javious Bond continues to be utilized by East Carolina in the offensive backfield and on special teams. In the Pirates’ 42-3 win over Norfolk State, he rushed four times for 27 yards with a touchdown along with returning three punts for 58 yards, the longest being 27 yards. ECU plays Saturday at Old Dominion before hosting Appalachian State.
True freshman Zion Ragins found his way to the field during Oklahoma’s 51-3 win against Temple, catching a pass for seven yards. The Sooners host Houston and Tulane the next two weeks before opening SEC play in Norman on Sept. 21 vs. Tennessee.
Jontavis Robertson played a part in the Blue Devils’ 26-3 win against Elon, catching one pass for nine yards. The Blue Devils play Friday at Northwestern and open ACC play Sept. 28 against North Carolina and Oct. 5 at Georgia Tech.
