Clifton Ridge Middle beats Pike County; Gray Station falls short
The football season is underway for both Gray Station Middle School and Clifton Ridge Middle School. Clifton Ridge Middle took a win last week against Pike County, winning 28-8. Travis Miller rushed for three touchdowns and Laquon Pendleton had one. Gray Station fell short to Monroe County, losing 33-0.
The season for both teams is scheduled to wrap up as late as Oct. 4 when the top two teams in their conference take on one another in the league championship. Season opponents for both teams also include Monroe County, Upson Lee, Henderson Middle, Jasper County and Lamar County.
The upcoming schedule is busy on the softball side, as well. Clifton Ridge plays at Monroe County on Aug. 29 and Jasper County on Aug. 31. Gray Station hosts Ace Charter on Aug. 28, Pike County on Aug. 29 and Henderson on Aug. 30.
Ravens post shutout win against Crushers
A week after getting a win by forfeit, the Georgia Ravens got the victory on the field Saturday, winning 32-0 at home against the Crushers thanks to the tone being set by the offensive line and skill players making big plays on both sides of the ball.
Picking up touchdowns were Treci Boyington, TJ Johnson, Dorian Rumph, Robert Cornelius and Jacob Hughes.
The Ravens defense snagged two interceptions and forced four fumbles to go with six sacks, three from DJ Brazil.
There was some off-field excitement for the Ravens as well as Randall Williams was engaged at halftime to Phoenecia Morgan.
The Ravens next game is Saturday at home against the Clayton County Spartans. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
